New York City is loud. It moves at 1.5 meters per second. It’s a blur of yellow taxis, steam pipes, and endless ambition. But if you watch closely, right in the middle of the chaos, there are pockets of absolute silence.
That’s where I operate. I am Alan Lam. I’m not just a photographer; I’m a documentarian of stories.
My camera isn’t there to force you into awkward poses or make you smile on command. It’s there to witness the way you naturally look at each other, or the quiet confidence you feel standing amidst the skyscrapers.
My Philosophy: "Anti-Posing" I treat every session like a scene from a movie where you are the main characters, and I’m just the extra in the background, stealing frames of your reality.
I don’t overly pursue the 'perfect' smile. I want the wind messing up your hair, the blurry movement of running across the street, and the unscripted laughter between shots.
Graduation
Whether it’s a quiet love story, a graduation milestone, or a solo portrait in the concrete jungle. I’m here to capture the version of you that exists when you think no one is watching.
Let’s slow New York down for a second.
